Schinkennudeln is a traditional German comfort dish made with egg noodles, diced ham, and sautéed onions—pan-fried to golden perfection and often served with a side salad or pickles. Quick, hearty, and family-friendly!

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces wide egg noodles

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 8 ounces cooked ham, diced

  • 4 large eggs

  • ½ cup milk

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Chopped parsley or chives, for garnish (optiona

Directions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook egg noodles according to package directions until tender. Drain well.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add chopped onion and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in diced ham and cook another 2–3 minutes until heated through.
  • Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss to combine.
  • In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the noodles and cook, stirring gently, until eggs are just set and creamy, about 3–4 minutes.
  • Remove from heat. Sprinkle with parsley or chives if desired.
