This vibrant, golden Mango and turmeric coconut yoghurt soft serve is a refreshing, dairy-free dream that feels indulgent but is packed with wholesome ingredients. Whether you are craving a healthy alternative to traditional ice cream or want to enjoy the powerful anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric, this recipe delivers. The natural sweetness of the mango blends flawlessly with rich coconut yoghurt, creating a luscious soft serve texture that you can whip up in minutes.

Origin Mango and turmeric coconut yoghurt soft serve

This recipe is a beautiful modern fusion of traditional Ayurvedic golden milk (haldi doodh) and the wildly popular frozen yoghurt trend. By infusing the healing, earthy notes of turmeric into a bright, tropical fruit base, health-conscious cooks created a dessert that bridges the gap between functional wellness foods and crave-worthy dairy-free ice cream alternatives.

Why I Love This Recipe

I love that this treat requires absolutely zero churning and no ice cream maker. As long as you have frozen fruit and a food processor, you can create a gorgeous, silky dessert on demand. The coconut yoghurt adds a wonderful probiotic tang that balances the sweetness of the fruit, making it a perfectly nourishing treat for hot summer afternoons or a guilt-free late-night snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen mango chunks

  • ½ cup unsweetened, full-fat coconut yoghurt

  • ½ tsp ground turmeric

  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup or agave (optional, depending on the sweetness of the mango)

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 pinch black pepper (helps activate the benefits of the turmeric)

  • Toasted coconut flakes (for garnish)

Directions

  • Add the frozen mango chunks, full-fat coconut yoghurt, ground turmeric, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a tiny pinch of black pepper to the bowl of a large food processor or a high-speed blender.
  • Pulse a few times to break up the frozen fruit.
  • Turn the processor on high and blend continuously for 2–3 minutes. You may need to stop once or twice to scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula.
  • Continue processing until the mixture transforms from icy crumbles into a smooth, thick, and creamy soft serve consistency.
  • Scoop the mixture immediately into bowls for a classic soft serve texture, and garnish with toasted coconut flakes.

Notes

  • Firmness: If you prefer a firmer, scoopable ice cream texture rather than soft serve, transfer the blended mixture to a freezer-safe loaf pan and freeze for 2 hours before scooping.
  • Spice level: If you love ginger, a small pinch of ground ginger pairs beautifully with the turmeric and adds a pleasant, warm kick.
  • Storage: Leftovers can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 1 month. Let it thaw on the counter for 10–15 minutes before eating to soften it back up.
