Ingredients

  • 400g chicken pieces (boneless or bone-in)

  • 1 cup lentils (washed)

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 carrot, chopped

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • ½ tsp turmeric

  • 1 tsp cumin powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 3 cups water or stock

  • Juice of 1 lemon

  • Fresh coriander or parsley for garnish

Directions

  • Heat oil in a pot and sauté onion and garlic until soft.
  • Add chicken pieces and cook until lightly browned.
  • Add carrots, lentils, turmeric, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Pour in water or stock and bring to a boil.
  • Cover and simmer for 25–30 minutes until lentils and chicken are cooked.
