Ingredients

  • For Dough

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour

  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee

  • Pinch of salt

  • Water as needed

  • For Filling (Puran)

  • 1 cup chana dal (split Bengal gram)

  • 1 cup grated jaggery

  • ½ tsp cardamom powder

  • Pinch of nutmeg powder (optional)

  • For Cooking

  • Ghee as needed

Directions

  • Cook chana dal until soft and drain excess water.
  • Mash or grind dal into a smooth mixture.
  • Cook dal with jaggery in a pan until thick and dry.
  • Add cardamom and nutmeg powder. Let filling cool.
  • Prepare soft dough using flour, oil, salt, and water. Rest for 15 minutes.
  • Divide dough and filling into equal portions.
  • Stuff filling inside dough and roll gently into flatbread.
  • Cook on a hot tawa with ghee until golden on both sides.
  • Serve warm with extra ghee.
