For Dough
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 tbsp oil or ghee
Pinch of salt
Water as needed
For Filling (Puran)
1 cup chana dal (split Bengal gram)
1 cup grated jaggery
½ tsp cardamom powder
Pinch of nutmeg powder (optional)
For Cooking
Ghee as needed
Directions
- Cook chana dal until soft and drain excess water.
- Mash or grind dal into a smooth mixture.
- Cook dal with jaggery in a pan until thick and dry.
- Add cardamom and nutmeg powder. Let filling cool.
- Prepare soft dough using flour, oil, salt, and water. Rest for 15 minutes.
- Divide dough and filling into equal portions.
- Stuff filling inside dough and roll gently into flatbread.
- Cook on a hot tawa with ghee until golden on both sides.
- Serve warm with extra ghee.
