Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp cumin

  • ½ tsp chili powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 package empanada dough or pie crust

  • 1 egg, beaten (for brushing)

Directions

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onion and garlic and sauté until soft.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  • Stir in paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Cook for a few minutes until the mixture is well combined.
  • Roll out the empanada dough and cut into circles.
  • Place a spoonful of beef filling in the center of each circle.
  • Fold the dough over and seal the edges with a fork.
  • Brush with beaten egg.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 18–20 minutes until golden.
